Jack Black Has A TikTok Now & It Is Absolutely Thrumming With Bored Dad Energy

Those of you of a certain age may well be tempted to try and diversify your interests by investigating just what in the blue hell “the kids” are up to nowadays with their baggy pants and their vaporwave LED light strips and what have you. That is folly. That world is not yours to dabble in, old timer. Give it a rest, Pops. Put the feet up. Leave it be. Unless you’re Jack Black then you can do whatever the hell you want, I guess.

In addition to his YouTube gaming channel, the more lyrical half of Tenacious D is reaching out to the yoofs by starting up his own TikTok page, through which he is documenting his steady descent into quarantine-induced madness, one short-form video at a time.

Exhibiting no signs of stage fright, Black’s first entry on the platform features the 50-year-old Rad Dad dancing poolside at his house wearing undies, cowboy boots, a cowboy hat, and not much else.

Strong form, good posture, nice leg extension. He might not be in the app’s target demo but you cannot, under any circumstances, fault the gusto.

Black also made some small inroads into the politics of the platform, asserting he will not be turning reactions off. Of course he did this while simultaneously being rinsed by his own son Sammy, so there’s that added layer as well.

Though he’s only been on the platform for a hot few seconds, Black has already amassed some 371,000-odd followers, which easily qualifies him for a hefty chunk of clout.

Now if we can just get him lip-syncing the Andrew Probyn/Scott Morrison press conference ballyhoo, we’ll really be in business.
