With the sheer volume of crime docos of late – driven in no small part by Netflix‘s Making a Murderer, it was probably inevitable that someone would make a parody of it starring John Lithgow, who should play all accused murderers in all television shows.
And voila! NBC have dropped the trailer for their crime mockumentary series Trial & Error, in which Lithgow plays a university professor accused of the murder of his wife.
It looks pretty funny.
I think this is the way the world works now. Netflix will do something and then a year later someone will parody it. That’s how it goes.
It hits American TV in March. Australian TV? Hard to say. I assume at some point in 2027.
