Home & Away star Isabel Lucas has addressed the backlash that’s transpired after making controversial remarks about COVID-19 vaccines.
ICYMI: Daily Mail reported that Lucas commented on an Instagram post by Pete Evans, promoting alternative medicines as an answer to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Freedom of choice is every human’s write,” she commented. “I don’t trust the path of vaccinations.”
Following her comments, Plan International Australia, a charity for girls’ equality who selected Lucas as an ambassador to help young women, announced they were ending the ambassadorship.
The charity made the announcement on Twitter after a fan wrote:
“Are you aware your ambassador, actress Isabel Lucas, is one of these conspiracy theorists stoking fears during this crisis? She’s also anti-vaccination… go figure.”
Plan International Australia replied, “We are aware of the issues and as of today, Ms Lucas and Plan International have come to a mutual agreement to end the ambassadorship.”
Lucas has since reacted to the backlash on her Instagram Story, calling the whole thing a “misunderstanding”, before continuing to attack vaccinations.
