Whilst we wait with eternally bated breath before we can write the headline we all truly wish to see, ‘Lucy Liu To Direct Third Charlie’s Angel Sequel With Drew & Cameron Set To Return‘, we’ll just have to settle for this one, with news the talented actor and filmmaker is instead directing the upcoming premiere ep of Netflix/Marvel collab ‘Luke Cage‘.
Rumours first started to spread of Liu’s involvement with the show, which sees bulletproof superhero/superhunk Cage played with sexual aplomb by Mike Colter, when pics of her on set appeared last month.
The goss that she would be appearing in the show, either as a recurring character or in the form of a cameo, have now been swatted away, with the equally cool news that she will instead be directing season two’s first episode. In a statement to Buzzfeed, Lucy notes:
“What a thrill to collaborate with Marvel and Netflix, two industry titans, who paint our world with inspiring stories and beguiling characters. It is such an honor to work with such a passionate and fearless team.”
With her on-screen history including one of the aforementioned Charlie’s Angels and her turn as the awesomely batshit O-ren Ishii in ‘Kill Bill‘, we reckon this one is a pretty solid fit.
Luke and his mesmerisingly sexual muscles next return to our screens later this year for the Marvel team-up series ‘The Defenders‘ alongide Netflix superheroes Daredevil, Jessica Jones & Iron Fist, before his solo series returns for 2018.
