‘Indiana Jones 5’ Is Still Miraculously Happening But Not Anytime Soon

Back in March, we were gifted the unlikely news our favourite archaeologist would be off on another adventure in Indiana Jones 5 complete with a 75-year-old Harrison Ford. Clearly, the man has no plans of slowing down any time soon which we’re very grateful for. The film’s release was originally slated for 2019 but then got pushed back to July 10, 2020 because well… Disney’s a busy bee.

NowIndiana Jones 5 has been pushed back again because key members of the production team apparently won’t sign-off on the finished script. This could mean a lot of things but let’s just say they’re not happy with the finished product. American screenwriter David Koepp, known for his work on the 2008 Indy flick Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was given the almighty task of the first draft but has reportedly been replaced by Jonathan Kasdan per Collider

This means the script could see a few changes or be redone entirely, it isn’t quite clear yet and Disney’s tight-lipped about it.

As the numerous rumours stand, Indy 5 will most likely be Ford’s last crack at the franchise and could involve a passing of the whip to a younger actor.

You might know Kasdan as the co-writer of Solo: A Star Wars Story. He’s also the son of Raiders of the Lost Ark writer and legend Lawrence Kasdan. Lawrence has huge writing credits on The Force Awakens, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and The Last Jedi. He’s also the other co-writer on Solo.

Filming of the fifth film was supposed to kick off in April 2019 but Variety has learnt the script delay will take up to a few months or even a year. A new release date has yet to grace the internet.

However, Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford are still extremely keen to pump out another flick.

In conclusion – Ford will once again don his iconic hat inevitably… possibly in late 2020 or early 2021.

Either way:

In the meantime, you can catch Ford voice-acting in the animated flick, The Secret Life of Pets. That’ll hit cinemas June, 2019. And if you’re a Spielberg fan then you probably already know he’s working on his dream remake of West Side Story – which means yes, he was previously working on Indiana Jones 5 and West Side Story at the same time… because why not?
