Iggy Azalea Gets Obligatory TV Gig, Signs On As ‘X Factor Australia’ Judge

Iggy Azalea has officially hit that elite Ronan Keating and Redfoo tier of celebrity, and signed on to be a judge on the next season of The X Factor Australia
Iggs, who will replace outgoing judge Dannii Minogue, confirmed the news yesterday after a performance on Good Morning America, saying:

“I really didn’t picture myself being a judge on any kind of television show but I think that actually this could be a good fit for me so I said yes. Initially I didn’t know but then I thought it would be good to come back to Australia and have an opportunity to spend some time there and obviously to see my family, who live in Sydney. So I think it will be a good situation for multiple reasons. I’m really excited and I don’t really know what to expect.”

Seven has not yet set a date for The X Factor‘s eighth season to return, but it will likely be after the Olympics. Last year’s judging panel featured Guy Sebastian, Chris Isaak, James Blunt and Minogue, but it’s not clear who else will feature this year.

Azalea, whose new album Digital Distortion is out later this year, told media:
“I understand what it’s like to have giant dreams and intent to help other young Australians achieve theirs by sharing my knowledge and developing their talent in collaboration with The X Factor.”
Seven’s Director of Production Brad Lyons says that the show will have the chance to be mentored by “the best in the business” with 26-year-old success story Iggs looking out for them.
