Idina Menzel Didn’t Care About The Whole ‘Adelle Dazeem’ Thing

The Oscars were a great time for everyone this year. Actors eating pizza, record-breaking selfies that broke Twitter, McConaughey dropping Dazed and Confused lines into his acceptance speech. But one of the things that stuck out for all the wrong reasons was John Travolta’s merciless butchering of Idina Menzel’s name. It’s probably best to just revisit it right now. Go on. Refresh yourself.

Seriously, Johnny. You had one job. We can’t even kind of figure out how you got Adelle Dazeem out of that. But rather than frown, maintain a grudge, or order 58 copies of the complete Welcome Back Kotter box set just to put them in a pile and set them on fire, Idina Menzel has done the human thing and forgiven him.
Speaking to Billboard about her long-earned fame and recognition, the singer of Frozen’s huge, Oscar-winning hit “Let It Go” has only good things to say about The Volt’s short circuit. “That threw me for a minute, but then I just got back on track and reminded myself of where I was,” she quipped.
Travolta, it should be noted, was more than a little embarrassed by the whole ordeal, as you would be. Menzel explains that he went out of his way to apologise. “He was really gracious and sent this gorgeous email, and we’re buddies and it’s all cool.

At the time Travolta issued a statement, which included this nugget of wisdom “I’ve been beating myself up all day. Then I thought…What would Idina Menzel say? She’d say, ‘Let it go, let it go!‘” proving that he at least remembers some things from time to time.
Menzel, though, isn’t really phased by any perceived negative association. “Please,” she said. “I mean, I’ve only benefited from it.” So Idina Menzel and John Travolta have buried the hatchet and are buddies, which is great. But that means Adelle Dazeem is left to plot her glorious revenge silently in the shadows, where she sits.
Watching.
Waiting.
