“I Will Survive” Tanks As Channel Ten Launches New Shopping Network

Channel Ten, who’ve suffered a historically shitty ratings season resulting in their worst audience figures since the 90’s, the sacrificial departure of David Mott, the let’s pretend this never happened four episode run of Everybody Dance Now and the failure to launch of The Shire, Don’t Tell the Bride and Being Lara Bingle, can now add one more disaster to the trash heap. I Will Survive, the search for a “triple threat” Australian superstar (we like this guy!) slumped to just 281,000 viewers last night supporting the theory logic that no amount of Toni Collette, Rachel Griffiths or even Asher Keddie could help a program involving The Outback, Drag Queens and musical theatre connect with a wider Australian audience.

The program, pitted against rating behemoths Big Brother and X Factor Australia, ranked 36th for the night and could be vulnerable to same the same fate which befell Dance Now. Things sure aren’t looking good but at least there’s a contingency plan: instead of wasting time on original programming not called MasterChef or Puberty Blues, Ten are just going to sell us shit.

The network will launch a new shopping channel on September 24th in partnership with TVSN Channel, the operator of the TVSN home shopping network who you may have purchased a Total Gym from back in the 90’s. The free-to-air TVSN channel will launch on Network Ten’s datacasting service, Channel 14 and broadcast 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including at least 12 hours of live Australian content a day.

Ten, seriously not trying anymore.

We hope it looks something like this.
