Hugh Jackman To Host First Tropfest New York

John Polson’s tremendously successful Short Film Festival lovechild Tropfest is expanding State-side this year with the first ever Tropfest New York. And the inaugural event will boast its just-announced host-with-the-most Hugh Jackman. Hugh’s professional hosting duties have literally won awards (he won an Emmy Award for hosting the Tony Awards one year), plus his fan base defies demographics, so he’ll make an amazing ambassador for drawing entries and crowds to the Festival.

“Knowing that Tropfest has opened doors for brilliant filmmakers, actors and others for the past 20 years, I’m proud to be a part of the festival as it expands its reach to the U.S. and brings its competition to New York,” he said. “As a mecca of the arts, New York is a perfect host for a festival that empowers creative minds to try their hand at filmmaking.”

Tropfest New York will take place June 21-23 at Bryant Park and will be free and open to the public. If you’re a Filmmaker in New York you have until May 17 to get your entry in at www.tropfest.com/newyork.

As Hugh’s hosting duties are concerned, just expect a lower budget version of this:
