Hey Girl, Watch The Trailer For Ryan Gosling’s Directorial Debut, ‘Lost River’

If you’ve come here in search of footage of Ryan Gosling – eating cereal, staring listlessly down the barrel of some uncertain future, whatever – then you’ve got much larger problems with your comprehension skills tbh.
What follows instead is the trailer for his directorial debut, ergo he doesn’t star in it so much as he is steeped in every self-consciously stylish frame that feeds into Lost River, “a dark fairy tale about love, family and the fight for survival in the face of danger.” Originally titled How To Catch A Monster, Lost River premiered last year at Cannes and if you have film festival or Ryan Gosling Google Alerts alike, you’d already know that it was widely and deliciously panned as a vacuous, self-indulgent vanity project more intent on borrowing from auteurs like Lynch, Malick and old mate Nicolas Winding Refn than it was with small things like narrative or a semblance of sanity.
Lost River stars Christina Hendricks, our Ben Mendelsohn, Saoirse Ronan and Matt Smith, amongst others. It has an April 10th release date in the States, with a digital VOD release on the same day, meaning you should be able to watch it by more ethically questionable means soon after.
