Here’s Your First Look At Emily Blunt As Iconic Nanny Mary Poppins

While we still have Emma Watson‘s Belle to look forward to in Beauty And The Beast, Disney has us excited for yet another inspired bit of casting, with Emily Blunt set to take on the role of iconic nanny Mary Poppins
Blunt is reuniting with her Into The Woods director Rob Marshall for Mary Poppins Returns, and while the film won’t be out until Christmas next year, the studio released a teaser image overnight to get us hyped in advance.
The photo shows Blunt in character as Poppins, and look, we’re going to go ahead and call it – sensible shoes and enormous patterned bags are about to make a huge comeback:
Per the plot description, Mary Poppins Returns is set in 1930s London, and sees the beloved nanny revisit the now-grown children from the original to help them “rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their loves.”
The film also features Blunt’s Into The Woods co-star Meryl Streep, along with Colin Firth, Lin Manuel-Miranda, Emily Mortimer, Ben Whishaw, Dick Van Dyke and Angela Lansbury, and to be honest, we’re excited.
Anne Hathaway is probably screaming that she didn’t get the part of Poppins, but at least we’ll always have this:
