Here’s Your 1st Look At The Plastic / Fantastic ‘Mean Girls’ Musical Cast

The cast for Tina Fey’s upcoming Mean Girls musical has been announced, meaning we now have the names and faces on which we can pin our hopes and dreams.

First up: Erika Henningsen will take on the role of Cady Heron, made famous by none other than Lindsay Lohan in the 2004 classic. She’s most recently appeared in the Broadway revival of a little play called Les Miserables, which we’ve been told is basically just Mean Girls if their high school were actually the French Revolution.

Taylor Louderman will take up Rachel McAdams’ mantle as Regina George, high priestess of the Plastics, wearer of pink, misunderstander of carbs. Louderman has recently been killing it in Kinky Boots, FWIW.

Gretchen Wieners, so deftly handled in the film by Lacey Chabert, will be played by Ashley Park. Park has spent the better part of the past few months appearing alongside Jake Gyllenhaal in Sunday In The Park With George; by extension, we’re hoping old mate makes a cameo or seven.

Kate Rockwell, of Bring It On notoriety, is portraying sweet, innocent Karen Smith onstage.

She’s psyched on the role, too.

Tony-nominee Kerry Butler is standing in for Fey herself as teacher Ms. Norbury.

Janis Ian, blessed Janis Ian, will be played by Barrett Wilbur Weed. She’s recently occupied that same quasi-goth space for Heathers.

That’s obviously a type she’s stoked to portray.

Let’s rock this bitch ??

Grey Henson does even go here, as ol’ mate Damien Hubbard.

Saturday Night Live head honcho Lorne Michaels has stepped in to produce, alongside Broadway luminary Stuart Thompson. Tony-winner Casey Nicholaw, of The Book Of Mormon and Aladdin, is directing this one. The play will also feature tunes penned by Jeff Richmond, who also happens to be Fey’s husband, as if this couldn’t get more perfect.

It’s set for a debut at Washington D.C.’s National Theater on October 31, with an eye to move to Broadway shortly after. There’s your Christmas plans sorted; lord knows the OG film had enough of a festive theme to classify it as a holiday classic.
