Here’s The ‘Mad Men’ Season Seven Poster For You To Overanalyse

The iconic 1950s and 60s graphic design artist with whose work you will undoubtedly be familiar (‘I <3 NY’, for example) Milton Glaser, 84, has created the psychedelic poster for the penultimate instalment of Mad Men’s seventh and final season, the semiotics of which are now available for your over-analysis below.
On unveiling the poster, which takes as its theme Don’s two greatest vices – clashing colour and mixing fabulous prints – series creator Matthew Weiner told the New York Times that he grew up with a poster of Glaser’s work in his home and has always wanted to work with him, echoing a similar sentiment to the story behind last year’s brilliantly cryptic poster
“There is a dreamlike quality to it, and believe it or not, it is related to the show, and not because it’s psychedelic,” adds Weiner.
“That’s not what it’s about. What it’s about is the material and the immaterial world, and that’s what I loved. This is related to the late ’60s, which is all I will say about it. It maintains the idea that this is somehow going on in Don Draper’s mind, which is what the story is always about — and what the back of his head is about, on some level.”
That level chiefly being the most literal. Mad Men returns to AMC April 13th.
