Here Is A ‘The Great Gatsby’ Movie Poster


There are only 279 days to go until the release of Baz Lurhmann‘s adaptation of The Great Gatsby, a movie whose progress we’ve been following with excessive enthusiasm ever since it was first confirmed just over a year ago. And so, in keeping with that tradition of redundant Gatsby-related updates, here is the first poster inspired by the film (it has not been confirmed as official artwork yet) that the internet discovered today:

My initial reaction to the poster was that it probably isn’t official artwork and is more than likely a fan-made design. Although, if my hunch is correct, this poster’s creator definitely took their inspiration from Baz Luhrmann film posters of yore. There’s a couple of recurring composition motifs also used in Baz’s artwork for Australia, William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet and Moulin Rouge!; most obviously: the placement of the two top billing actors’ names in the top corners and the imagery of lovers embracing. The film is currently in the post-production stages and due to land in theatres on Christmas day. A few months ago we spoke to Joel Edgerton who plays Tom Buchanan in the movie. He told us about working on The Great Gatsby and how lavish and awesome it was:
