Uhhh, HBO Hackers Are Threatening To Leak The ‘Game Of Thrones’ Finale

HBO is having an absolute shocker of a Game of Thrones season. It’s had two episodes out of a total seven leak thus far, and now the hackers responsible for one of those leaks are threatening to leak the season finale.

The hacking group contacting Mashable direct, claiming via email to “have access to many HBO Platforms already”, and issued a threat to HBO execs.

“Be ready for GOT S& E6 &E7 as soon as possible,” they said.

Of course, that threat is slightly nulled by the fact that HBO had already managed to leak Episode 6 ‘Beyond the Wall‘ itself, but the sentiment is still there. HBO refused to engage with the threat, telling Mashable:

“We’re not in communication with the hacker and we’re not going to comment every time a new piece of information is released. It has been widely reported that there was a cyber incident at HBO. The hacker may continue to drop bits and pieces of stolen information in an attempt to generate media attention. That’s a game we’re not going to participate in.”

Last week, hackers briefly took control of HBO’s social media accounts, just to prove they could.

Earlier this season, Game of Thrones‘ fourth episode ‘The Spoils of War‘ managed to break audience records despite being leaked a day early, bringing in an insane 10.2 million viewers across the United States.

TBC if Ep 6 manages to do the same, but seeing as it leaked almost a week ahead of scheduled release, we’re not holding our breath.
