HBO Says You’re All Wrong About The Fucking ‘Game Of Thrones’ Coffee Cup

Game of Thrones’ latest episode was packed with game-changing story elements, many of which sparked a heated response from fans. Still, only one was notable enough to elicit a response from the folks at HBO itself: the inclusion of a rogue takeaway coffee cup next to Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke).

In case you missed the episode or the chatter dominating social media since it aired, a brown paper cup could be seen next to the Mother of Dragons during an important scene. While other characters palled around after the fateful Battle of Winterfell, Daenerys apparently chilled out with a cuppa.

Noting discussion of the mishap, HBO was unphased.

“The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea,” the network said in a media release.

Fans have wondered how Game of Thrones, a show which has been pretty damn good at maintaining the illusion of a medieval fantasy hellworld, allowed the cup to enter the shot.

Others have questioned who really took it on set. One recent Instagram Story post from Sophie Turner has diehards questioning the motives of her character, Sansa Stark.

Was it Turner? Unlikely, given the fact young Bella Ramsey, who also appears in the photo, had her character killed in the previous episode. We guess we’ll just wait for George R. R. Martin to provide confirmation on this one.
