Hannah Gadsby’s Critically-Acclaimed Show ‘Nanette’ Is Coming To Netflix

Good news for anyone who failed to secure tickets to Hannah Gadsby‘s critically-acclaimed (and gut-wrenching) show Nanette – it’s coming to Netflix!

At her sold-out Saturday evening performance at the Sydney Opera House, the comedian informed the crowd the show was being filmed for the streaming service.

If you’ve been lucky enough to see it already, you’ll understand what we mean by it being phenomenally devastating. Nanette is an exploration of mental health, queerness and homophobia, which won big at both the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Gadsby announced at the beginning of 2017 that she would be retiring from comedy, and Nanette encapsulates why: because to make her audience understand (and find humour in) the experience of growing up queer in Tasmania, she has to make herself the butt of the joke. And, as she says in Nanette, she simply can’t do it anymore.

There’s no official word yet from Netflix on when Nanette will arrive, but we’ve reached out and will keep you posted.
