Gus Van Sant and Bret Easton Ellis To Write Double Suicide Screenplay

File this under heartwarming Blockbusters the whole (Manson) family will enjoy.

American Psycho scribe Bret Easton Ellis and Last Days Director Gus Van Sant will write a screenplay about the double suicide of an emotionally unstable couple. This premise is made all the more unnerving by the fact that it’s based on a true story chronicled extensively in a Vanity Fair article published in early 2008.

Titled ‘The Golden Suicides’ the article follows New York artists Jeremy Blake and Theresa Duncan, an outwardly normal couple who become increasingly paranoid of Religious forces trying to destroy them. This paranoia results in their successive suicides one week apart. It’s macabre subject matter but also utterly fascinating, if you have the time you can read the full article here.
