Grey’s Star Sara Ramirez Is Scrubbing Into The SATC Revival As A Non-Binary, Queer Podcaster

Gather ’round, stat! We’ve got some fresh tea about the Sex & The City reboot, And Just Like ThatGrey’s Anatomy star Sara Ramirez has locked down a role in the forthcoming series.

Ramirez, who recently came out as non-binary, will play Che Diaz, a non-binary, queer stand-up comedian who hosts a podcast. So where’s the connection to our fabulous four three? Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) features on the poddy because of course she does.

According to HBO Max, “Che is a big presence with a big heart whose outrageous sense of humour and progressive, human overview of gender roles has made them and their podcast very popular.”

Sex & The City executive producer Michael Patrick King, who’s returning for the new series, said, “Everyone at And Just Like That… is beyond thrilled that a dynamically talented actor such as Sara Ramírez has joined the Sex and the City family. Sara is a one-of-a-kind talent, equally at home with comedy and drama—and we feel excited and inspired to create this new character for the show.”

And Just Like That follows Carrie, Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) “as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s.”

Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha in the OG series and both flicks, famously backed out of the show, paving the way for more cast members.

“Samantha isn’t part of this story,” Parker confirmed while announcing the Sex & The City reboot on Instagram. “But she will always be part of us. No matter where we are or what we do.”

It’ll have 10 half-hour episodes, and production is set to kick off this summer.

And as for the blokes of the show, John Corbett claimed he would be returning as Aidan, but Parker called BS on that. Hm…

Meanwhile David Eigenberg, who played Miranda’s husband Steve in Sex & The City, said that he had gotten a call, and Chris Noth has been v. tightlipped.

Sara Ramirez is best known for playing the iconique surgeon Callie Torres on Grey’s Anatomy, which is now streaming on Stan and Disney+.
