New ‘GoT’ Theory Claims Bran Has Been Planning The Big Finale Twist For Years

The angry masses are pissed about the Game of Thrones (GoT) finale that saw wheelchair bound Bran Stark (aka the Three-Eyed Raven) crowned as King of Westeros.

Punters have questioned if ol’ Raven boi is powerful enough to take on the job but if the latest theory is true, perhaps he planned the whole thing all along – meaning he is worthy after all.

As pointed out in a report via Inverse, Bran appeared to be stoked, rather than surprised, by becoming king after the powers that be voted him in.

After being crowned, Bran offers the following v. telling line: “Why do you think I came all this way?”

Why indeed, Bran. Whyyy indeed.

The report also points out that despite being ~all-knowing~, Bran was relatively useless throughout season 8 and seemed totally cool with sitting on the sidelines and letting everyone else do the planning and the killing and the dying while he sat on his lofty perch and watched other contenders for the throne lose their lives.

In fact, the only times Bran actually helped was when he confirmed that Jon is a Targaryen and gave Arya the Valyrian steel dagger which she used to kill the Night King, two deeds that helped eliminate major threats to his eventual rule: the Night King and Daenerys Targaryen.

Fans have previously speculated that Bran warged into Drogon during the massacre of King’s Landing. There was even a theory that he warged into Daenerys and that’s why we never saw her face while she burned the city.

Also, Bran appeared to be pretty excited when Tyrion brought up finding Drogon. This could be because Bran knows exactly where the dragon is but doesn’t actually want to find him.

Bran might have even warged into Drogon after Jon killed Daenerys and ordered him to burn the Iron Throne to make way for a new chapter where he is king.

It also points out that Bran’s reign may have been teased all the way back in season 4 when he had a vision of the throne room covered in ash. In this vision, a dragon’s shadow is seen flying over King’s Landing, similar to Daenerys’ vision in season 2, and may have been foreshadowing the Mother of Dragons’ rampage and eventual death.

Bran tells Jon that being in the throne room with Daenerys was exactly where he was supposed to be, suggesting that he knew what was going to happen all along.

In an interview with the New York Times, Isaac Hempstead Wright, the bloke who plays Bran, said he wasn’t sure how far into the future his character could see.

However, the “very purpose of the Three-Eyed Raven is to be the one who is wise, and still, and careful enough to handle this information and not just go blabbering it about, because that would affect the outcome.”

This suggests that Bran may have known that he’d become king but didn’t say anything so as not to alter history.

It’s certainly a hot theory.
