Google The Movie?

With all the pant-wetting hype surrounding David Fincher’s upcoming Facebook drama The Social Network, the once maligned universe of dot com billionaires and the ubiquitous websites they preside over is Hollywood’s new source material du jour. A hundred points to the geeks I guess.

The latest web juggernaut to pique Hollywood’s interest is Google, the internet’s first port of call for well, everything and the noble* upholders of this short but sweet anti-corporate mantra: “Don’t be evil.” Unlike the dorm room hi-jinks and corporate greed of The Social Network, the Google movie will focus on the fast rise of Google’s founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page and their struggle to not be evil in the face of so many dollar dollar bills.

Reports Deadline Hollywood: “Michael London’s Groundswell Productions has teamed with producer John Morris to acquire movie rights to the Ken Auletta book Googled: The End of the World As We Know it. They will use the book as the blueprint for a feature film that tells the story of Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page and the fast rise of the juggernaut web business that made them billionaires.

*Maybe not so noble…
