Gaston And Lefou Are Copping A ‘Beauty & The Beast’ Musical Series On Disney+

Gaston, Lefou

The 2017 Beauty & The Beast focused on the romance between Belle and the titular beast, but there was another, much more homoerotic thing bubbling away between Gaston and Lefou.

Now, it appears that the characters are getting their own prequel TV series, which will explore their origin stories. Will there be more simmering sexual tension between them? That remains to be seen.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Luke Evans and Josh Gad will reprise their roles as the arrogant hunter and his bumbling, besotted sidekick in a new Disney+ mini-series.

The still-untitled limited series is set to be a “six episode musical event”, which will take place before the events of the film. Composer Alan Menken is reportedly in talks to write the tunes.

While Gaston and Lefou will obviously feature, it is still unclear whether Emma Watson‘s Belle or Dan Stevens‘ Beast will return. There is said to be a possibility they might “pop in” for guest spots.

The show was conceived by Josh Gad along with Once Upon A Time creators Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz.

The trio were reportedly developing a Muppets musical series that did not go ahead, and hit upon the idea of a Beauty & The Beast prequel instead.

In case you needed reminding, here’s the ‘Gaston‘ sequence from the 2017 film:
