The end of Game of Thrones is rapidly approaching, but HBO is in the works to make a number of spin-offs. One that nobody’s thought of – because it’s frankly insane – is what the story would look like set in the modern age.
A trailer for just that, titled Westeros, appeared on YouTube shortly after the season finale, and quite frankly somebody needs to make it happen because I would waste hours and hours watching it.
It imagines the great Houses of Lannister, Stark and Targaryen in a kind of Westeros-meets-dystopian London. Jaime Lannister is prime minister, the Iron Throne is on display, and someone with ice white Targaryen hair is doing a line of coke. Sex, drugs, and semi-automatic weapons, baby.
No one’s totally sure who posted it – it was uploaded to YouTube by a user called ‘Westeros the Series‘ – but signs are pointing to German satirist and TV presenter Jan Böhmermann, who’s made similar things in the past and tweeted a link to the video shortly after it went up.
