The Fate Of Ed Sheeran’s ‘GoT’ Character Was Revealed In Season 8’s Premiere

In the seventh season of Game of Thrones, popular singer, Ed Sheeran, made a cameo as a Lannister soldier – also named Ed – which was actually a gift from the series’ showrunners, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, to Arya Stark actor, Maisie Williams, who is obviously a massive fan of the bloke. During the season 8 premiere, Ed’s fate was slyly revealed.

It’s pretty easy to miss these things, particularly when seasons are so far apart, but as Polygon pointed out, things didn’t end well for old ginger Eddie. During the scene where Bronn‘s hanging out in the brothel, as he is wont to do, two of the women talked about the battle in which Dany and her dragon burnt the everloving fuck out of a Lannister army which Sheeran’s character was in.

“That boy Eddie came back with his face burned right off. He’s got no eyelids now,” one of the women said to another. No one’s actually confirmed whether Ed is actually dead, but he certainly doesn’t a face anymore, which is chill.

The fan reaction to Sheeran’s cameo was a strange one, with many seemingly perplexed by the whole thing. If you weren’t happy about old mate stinking up the show, you’ll probably be happy that he’s now the real Faceless Man. Sheeran himself told BuzzFeed that he was hoping he’d be killed off in the season 7 episode he appeared in.

“I definitely think they should’ve killed me off in the episode. I reckon that probably would’ve been the redemption for people that didn’t like it,” he said in an interview.

I think you’d all agree that last night’s episode was a real bloody barnburner and if you’re anything like me, you’ll be salivating for more.
