The ‘Friends’ Reunion Is Delayed ‘Cuz Of All This, So They Won’t Be There For You Just Yet

Friends

The cast of Friends WILL certainly be there for you at some point, but unfortunately, the current lockdown situation means that the planned reunion will be delayed until an unknown time.

The special, which will see the cast of the beloved sitcom reunite for a sit-down chat, was meant to debut with the launch of the new streaming service HBO Max in May.

Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer had all signed on for big money, but then COVID-19 threw a spanner in the works.

According to reports in Deadline, production on the special – which would reunite the cast for the first time in 16 years – was due to start earlier this year, but was shut down due to the pandemic.

There was a contingency plan to film it in May, just in time for the launch of HBO Max, but that has now fallen through as well, and there is still no end in sight to the production shutdown.

WarnerMedia paid $US 425 million for the rights to Friends, and were hoping that the special would entice viewers to the new service, so this news will certainly come as a blow to them.

As it stands, the reunion special is due to film on Stage 24 of the Warner Bros. Studio lot in Burbank, the show’s original shooting location, once it’s safe to do so.
