Former VS Model Bridget Malcolm Recounts Being Rejected From 2017 Show In Fucked TikTok

Bridget Malcolm / Victoria's Secret

Former Victoria’s Secret model Bridget Malcolm has harpooned the brand in a revealing TikTok, calling the lingerie label out for being, well, awful.

Late last month, Victoria’s Secret announced it was nixing its ‘Angels’ trope afters years of scrutiny for encouraging an unachievable body image for the average woman.

For those who aren’t so familiar with the brand’s runway show, Angels were a select number of supermodels, who basically trained year round to achieve an unbelievably ripped body. For example: Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Candice Swanepoel.

These were the women who wore the wings on the runway, separate to the (still unbelievably ripped) Victoria’s Secret model. The Angels also repped the brand in campaigns, etc, etc.

As part of the brand’s new revamped image, the Angels have been replaced with The VS Collective. Women like actor Priyanka Chopra and football player Megan Rapinoe now represent the label. However, as people have pointed out already, it’s just too late for this.

Malcolm walked in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show back in 2016, when her bra size was 30A. In her now viral TikTok, the model unearthed the bra and tried it on over the one she was already wearing.

It was clearly too small for her.

“I am now a size 34B. Which is healthy for me,” Malcolm wrote.

The model then revealed she was rejected from the 2017 show by Victoria’s Secret’s former CEO Ed Razek because, “He said ‘my body did not look good enough’.”

Malcolm wore a size 30B bra at that point.

Razek resigned from the company in 2019, after a string of shitty comments about plus-size and trans models.

Despite Victoria’s Secret’s recent efforts toward inclusivity, Malcolm called bullshit on it.

“Victoria’s Secret your performative allyship is a joke,” she wrote.

The model’s TikTok is part five of a running series in which she shines a light on the “times the fashion industry has sucked.”

In part four, Malcolm talked about the time she was fat-shamed by her chiropractor / “celebrity nutritionist”.

She was a size four.

@bridgetmalcolm

That time a chiropractor/nutritionist “fat shamed” me (can I even say that when I was a size 4???) ffs
