Former NSW Premier’s Daughter Charged in Drug Murder

Harriet Wran, the daughter of former NSW Premier Neville Wran, has been charged with murder, following the death of an alleged “small time drug dealer” in Redfern on Sunday night.

The SMH report that the 26-year-old Wran was arrested alongside a 35-year-old man in Liverpool yesterday, and that both were charged with murder, attempted murder and aggravated break and enter.

 
48-year-old Daniel John McNulty died in his Walker Street, Redfern apartment on Sunday night, and a second, 42-year-old man was taken to hospital with stab wounds.
High-flying barrister Winston Terracini is representing Harriet Wran, who appeared at Liverpool Local Court today. It is understood that no application for bail was made.

Harriet’s father Neville Wran, who passed away earlier this year, was the Labor Premier of NSW from 1976 to 1986.

Update:

The Australian report that Harriet Wran has battled addition to methamphetamines for a number of years, and relapsed following her father’s death. It is understood that in the weeks leading up to the murder, she left her family home at Woollahra, and had been living rough on the streets of Surry Hills and Redfern.
