Flickerfest Presents The Best Of Melbourne Shorts

As Flickerfest completes its many-date jaunt around Australia, we offer two reasons you should consider buying a ticket should you be in Melbourne tonight. Or indeed, should their wagons pull up in your vicinity. Shit, with 21 remaining dates in Perth, Brisbane, Hobart, Canberra, Queenstown and more, there’s a good chance they will. First and foremost, they’ve got taste, the only short film festival in Australia with BAFTA and Academy accredited status kinda taste. Yeah, even Oscar calls her gatekeeper. Secondly, their programmes adapt to the cities they show in. Tonight, having dusted off the sand and left the homestead in Bondi Beach, Flickerfest will show “The Best Of Melbourne Shorts” at Melbourne’s Kino Cinemas. The Melbourne-centric (but of course) schedule includes an Oscar nominee in Andrew Ruhemann and Shaun Tan’s “The Lost Thing” and a Sundance and Cannes recipient in Ariel Kleiman’s “Deeper Then Yesterday”. Check out the trailers for those films below or peruse the rest of the schedule here and here.
