The first official trailer to drop for upcoming thriller ‘Regression‘ is a carefully crafted mix of the following: typical horror tropes, Emma Watson‘s American accent, David Thewlis‘ English-and-therefore-Remus-Lupin accent, and Inception-style bwaaaaaahs.
Hawke stars as the detective investigating a young woman (Watson), who says she was sexually abused by her father (David Dencik). When her father admits his guilt with zero recollection, a psychologist (Thewlis) is brought in to help him unmask his regressed memories.
When a horror / thriller has some serious star power behind it, you know it’s either going to be a runaway success (‘The Babadook’) or a huge flop (‘Lady in the Water‘). There is no in-between.
‘Regression’ is written and directed by Alejandro Amenábar (‘The Others‘) so we have tentative high hopes for this one. It’s set to be released on August 28.
