First Look At Rebel Wilson’s New Series ‘Super Fun Night’

Trending golden child of Hollywood comedy, Rebel Wilson, has unveiled the first look at her new U.S. television series Super Fun Night at the inveterate television industry hype event known as the upfronts. At the new schedule presentation for network ABC – which recently acquired rights to the show – Wilson introduced Super Fun Night to an audience of invested TV power players such as marketers, advertisers, press and network executives.

“This show is really the anti-Sex and the City,” she explained, “because when these ladies eat at night, they aren’t talking about dick.”

The 90-second hype reel of the show, which is being produced by Conan O’Brien, sets up the premise whereby a group of socially inept gal pal roommates (with Wilson as the central figure) challenge themselves to have a super fun night every Friday. The jokes they’ve featured in the reel are a little ham-fisted and have a recycled ‘too familiar’ feel, but the fearless physicality of Wilson as a performer is well capitalised on and will give writers a bottomless mine for gags.

Super Fun Night official synopsis:
Junior attorney Kimmie Boubier (Rebel Wilson) and her two best friends Helen-Alice (Liza Lapira) and Marika (Lauren Ash) have had a standing date every Friday night for the last 13 years. They even have a motto for what they call “Friday Night Fun Night”: “Always together! Always Inside!” However, Kimmie’s recent promotion throws a monkey wrench into the tradition. Not only is she now working with her idol, “Lady Lawyer of the Year” Felicity Vanderstone (Kelen Coleman), but she meets a dashingly handsome British attorney, Richard Lovell (Kevin Bishop), who invites her to his party at a trendy club. Determined to spend time with Richard and heed Felicity’s advice to network, Kimmie sets out to convince her friends to take Super Fun Night on the road.
