Fantastic Mr. Fox Trailer

George Clooney is oft described (just ask any female in your vicinity) as a “silver fox” so failing confirmation that Hugh Jackman is in fact half fox, Mr. Clooney it would seem, is the logical actor to voice the eponymous protagonist of Wes Anderson’s new film Fantastic Mr. Fox.

Our first look at the film adaptation of Roald Dahl’s much loved children’s classic revealed little about the look, feel and tone of the film but upon watching the trailer it’s clear that Anderson’s cinematic quirks are retained even in the realm of stop motion animation.

In two and a half minutes Anderson enthusiasts are exposed to glimpses of Futura font, dry dialogue (aided by longtime collaborator Noah Baumbach), meticulously framed scenes, shitloads of whimsy and a corduroy suit. Attire Anderson is very fond of. Very, very fond of. The cast also includes past Anderson players Willem Dafoe, Bill Murray, Owen Wilson and Jason Schwartzman who bring vitality and a subtle comedic edge to the dialogue. Add to that the world’s greatest living actress and Mr. Fox doesn’t just look great. It looks fan-fucking-tastic.
