Lloyd played mopey Ted (the lawyer) Buckland in the beloved series. His a cappella band, The Blanks, also made numerous features throughout the series under the names Ted’s Band and The Worthless Peons.

A GoFundMe page – created after his diagnosis by friends – reveals doctors had found a “mass on Sam’s brain.”

Within a day, he was in brain surgery. Unfortunately the tumour was too intertwined so the surgeons couldn’t remove it. By Sunday, Sam and Vanessa were informed that the cancer in his brain had metastasised from his lungs. Further scans showed the cancer was also in his liver, spine, and jaw.

Lloyd and his wife, Vanessa, just recently welcomed their baby boy Weston into the world.

Despite his diagnosis, Lloyd has stayed positive especially as he cheered on the New England Patriots in his hospital room during the Super Bowl.

“Every prayer, every positive thought, every dollar, and every gesture of support is greatly appreciated,” the fundraiser concludes.

At the time of writing, fans had raised more than USD $105,000 since the fundraiser was created on February 4 – USD $5,000 more than its original goal.

Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence shared the GoFundMe page on Twitter as did actors Zach Braff (J.D), Sarah Chalke (Elliot Reid), and Robert Maschio (The Todd).

“This is Sam,” Lawrence wrote on Twitter. “He was Ted on SCRUBS. He’s a pal. Just had his first baby. Get involved if you can. I am.”
