Ewan McGregor, the man we would all turn gay/remain straight for, is currently in Perth (WA!) for the filming of upcoming Australian thriller Son of a Gun.
The film will be the feature debut of Julius Avery, whose butt will simultaneously be in the Directors Chair and at the Writer’s table, is slated for release in 2014. During the announcement by Screen Australia, that they would be providing funding for the project, they described it as “a psychological thriller about a young man sent to prison who becomes the apprentice to public enemy number one”. Public Enemy Number One will be played by Mr.McGregor, Protege will be played by Brenton Thwaites (of Home & Away fame), with the role of Frightened Inmate Number Two yet to be filled.
WA culture and arts minister John Day is potentially the most excited human alive re: filming of Son of a Gun: “This latest news that the star of Star Wars, Trainspotting and Moulin Rouge, Ewan McGregor will star in a locally-made film further shows that the WA film industry is making its international mark following on from the success of Red Dog and the anticipation surrounding Drift, starring Sam Worthington.”

McGregor recently intagram’d a few jpegs of himself “In Character” looking resplendant in beard, tattoos and mullét:

Otherwise, McGregor seems pretty jacked up about his new film Jack the Giant Slayer, so expect most updates to be about that until closer to the Son of a Gun release date:
