The divine being that is Emma Thompson is no longer just Emma Thompson because as of Wednesday, the actor, screenwriter, activist, and gift to the world is Dame Emma Thompson.

The deeply renowned actor was honoured with the Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Prince William for her services to Drama at ol’ Buckingham Palace.
The appointment was first announced back in June as part of the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Thompson told reporters afterwards that she had asked Prince William for a kiss – probably just a light peck on the cheek but alas, it was not allowed.
“I love Prince William. I’ve known him since he was little, and we just sniggered at each other. I said, ‘I can’t kiss you, can I?’ And he said, ‘No, don’t!’”
LOVE.
Another reason to love her? Thompson wore and absolutely rocked a pair of sneakers to the ceremony and wore a badge in support of equal pay from the Fawcett Society.

“I’m very outspoken, politically. I’m a card-carrying feminist, human rights advocate, so good for them, because the establishment need more people who can speak up for those things,” Thompson told reporters.
Obviously, this isn’t Thompson’s first brush with world domination. Her role in Howards End earned her the 1993 Academy Award for Best Actress while Sense and Sensibility won her the Oscar for Best Writing Adapted Screenplay.
Not to mention Love Actually and the Harry Potter franchise.
Then, there’s also a handful of other awards from the Golden Globes, BAFTA, New York Film Critic Circle, Empire Award, British Independent Film awards, Critic’s Choice Movie awards, and the Writer’s Guild of America.
Just imagine her goddamn Pool Room.
