Emily Ratajkowski Rejected Husband’s Proposal Until He Pulled Out A Paperclip

Just six weeks ago, Emily Ratajkowski – who remains to this day the most unfairly hot specific on the entire planet – surprised everyone by announcing that she’d married actor/producer boyfriend Sebastian Bear-McClard.

They’d been dating just a few short months, and she literally made the announcement via an “I got married today” message on her Instagram stories. Also, the Fat Jew was there, repping Planned Parenthood in a white jumpsuit. Peak 2018.

So everything was very shrouded in mystery and all that jazz, until Emily went on Jimmy Fallon to spill all the details of her non-traditional wedding.

As it turns out, she initially rejected Sebastian’s proposal – until he tried again with a literal paperclip.

“He proposed to me at Minetta Tavern [in New York City] and he didn’t have a ring, so I was like, ‘Mmmm, nah’,” she said. “And then he took the paper clip that the bill was paid with and made me a ring which I actually thought was really romantic.

They decided to get married literally ASAP, but in the state of New York, you have to wait 24 hours to get a marriage license. It meant they had a day to find some rings that weren’t, you know, available by the hundreds from Officeworks for $2.74.

“So then we walked into Chinatown and bought a little piece of, like an ounce of gold, and he was like, ‘We’ll melt down the gold and make the rings’,” she continued. “Right, so I was like, ‘I just don’t see us melting down gold, like that just seems kind of difficult’ but then he ended up going to some store in midtown and met this nice man — this is the night before our wedding, by the way — and this very nice Israeli man was like, ‘I know how to do that.’ So we came into his studio after hours and then we actually hammered them out, the whole thing, used a little blow torch, yeah. And they were supposed to be temporary rings but now I’m very attached and I really don’t want to get rid of it. I just feel like making it yourself, like could you be more personal, really?”

Here’s the ring, btw.

And then, literally the next day, the two of them got married.

“I guess I didn’t really know what I always wanted to do, which is maybe why it was so untraditional,” she said. “I wore mustard yellow suit and a black hat which was all part of my plan to not be noticed. Well, everyone wore suits or sweatsuits and my husband is good friends with the Fat Jew, Fat Jewish on Instagram—they went to high school together, they grew up together—and he wore a white jumpsuit, like sweatsuit, so I was thinking he would be the decoy. Truly didn’t work out quite as I’d imagined.”
