Emily Ratajkowski Calls Kim Kardashian West An “Incredible Feminist”

Model, actress, and proud feminist Emily Ratajkowski has shared how much she respects and admires Kim Kardashian West as a feminist and influential figure in today’s society.

In a feature, due for release on Monday with ELLE Australia, Ratajkowski opened up about her life in the spotlight, body image, and politics.

Ratajkowski has more than 17 million followers on her Instagram account alone, and often uses her platform for activism, especially women’s rights.

In 2016, Kardashian West posted the now famed and ‘controversial’ nude selfie on her social media. For the image, she copped a torrent of hate and criticism. Then a little while later, Ratajkowski joined her friend to recreate the photo with one extra touch – the middle finger.

The two women encouraged their audiences to feel empowered by their bodies and to no longer give into the fear of being labelled derogatory terms because of society’s ‘rules’.

Ratajkowski has always been outspoken about this:

“I truly believe that no matter who looks at me and thinks, ‘Oh God, she’s wearing a tank top and look at her boobs, how sad that she’s a victim of the patriarchy,’ I’m thinking, ‘Well, fuck you, I feel great. And I like what I’m wearing, and I like how I look. That’s more important than your idea about that.’”

Since the famed selfies, Ratajkowski has often defended women like Kardashian West and Melania Trump from the public and media’s scrutiny telling ELLE:

“I was like, ‘This is funny that these are the people that I end up fighting for.’ But I kind of feel like they’re the most important people, too. Like, don’t differentiate, don’t change your politics because you don’t think a person with a sex tape deserves protection or you discount somebody because of their sexual history.

I think Kim Kardashian is actually an incredible feminist. I channel her when I’m having a bad day. I’m like, ‘Here’s someone who really doesn’t give a shit what anyone thinks.’ I would like to be that person who is above it all, and she is that way.”

Ratajkowski will grace the cover of ELLE Australia’s June and July two-volume edition.
