Elon Musk, business magnate, industrial designer, engineer, Grimes‘ baby daddy and father to X Æ A-XII, has come out onto social media to announce his distaste for gender pronouns, which he believes are an ‘esthetic nightmare’.
Basically, esthetic is another way of saying ‘aesthetic’, except in a far more douchy and intellectual way. It is Musk’s belief that pronouns, and all their many variants, are merely forms of aesthetic presentation online. A way to make your social media bio look cool and different, if you will.
First of all, that’s a super ignorant thing to imply my man, and secondly, you named your son after an aircraft using an elven language that doesn’t exist. I am confusion.
The online clamour came about when Musk tweeted this out to the world. Truly I have no idea why he thought it would be a good thing to do, but here it is, here’s the tweet.
I absolutely support trans, but all these pronouns are an esthetic nightmare

Now out of context it just looks like an ignorant opinion that could be expected from a billionaire with a social media account, but the tweet was a response to this ugly thing right here, which was posted by Musk a couple of days ago.

I don’t want to even begin trying to break down what on Earth he could have been implying, but it just gives real bad vibes, so I’m going to leave it alone.
I guess, in a roundabout way, Musk was trying to imply that he/him is a damning set of pronouns to possess given the violent history of men. That’s possibly giving too much credit his way, but alas, work with me here.
Naturally, the internet did not take too well to this tweet, as it is a class A example of a cis man giving his unwanted opinion about the importance of gender pronouns for the LGBTQ+ community.
Musk, of course, then tried to back himself out of the corner with a tweet about how well Tesla treats its LGBTQ+ staff, but truly the damage was already done.
Oh and umm … https://t.co/jtg944ERCy

The people were not at all pleased with this attempt at damage control at all.
Not sure what made you wake up today and think “you know what, I’ll shit on people’s pronouns”, but that’s kinda the opposite of LGBTQ inclusivity. Thank goodness you apparently have HR personnel in place who know what they’re doing. You should ask them to brief you.
