Actor Elliot Page has filed for divorce from his wife Emma Portner after three years of marriage, TMZ reports.
Elliot just filed the legal documents in Manhattan, seeking the dissolution of his marriage to Portner, whom he married around January 2018.
The couple had announced their surprise wedding on Instagram, with Page writing at the time: “Can’t believe I get to call this extraordinary woman my wife.”
It comes two months after Elliot came out as trans in a powerful statement on Instagram.
“I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life,” he wrote on Instagram.
He went on to say that he felt “overwhelming gratitude” for the folks who have supported him, and for finally being able to express his ”authentic self.”
Elliot’s wife was very supportive of the announcement, taking to social media to reshare Elliot’s post and writing that she was “so proud”.
“Trans, queer and non-binary people are a gift to this world,” Emma wrote. “I also ask for patience and privacy but that you join me in the fervent support of trans life every single day. Elliot’s existence is a gift in and of itself. Shine on sweet E. Love you so much.”
Absolutely shattered over here.
