Alex ‘Chumpy’ Pullin’s Widow Announced She’s Pregnant With His Child 12 Months After His Death

Ellidy Vlug, the widow of Australian snowboard legend Alex ‘Chumpy’ Pullin, has announced she’s pregnant with his child 12 months after his tragic death.

Vlug took to Instagram to share the “bittersweet” news with her followers, calling it a “heart-wrenching plot twist”.

She posted a series of gorgeous shots on Insta where she showcased her growing baby bump.

“Bubba Chump coming this October,” she began. “Your Dad and I have been dreaming of you for years little one. With a heart wrenching plot twist in the middle, I am honoured to finally welcome a piece of the phenomenon that is Chumpy back into this world!

“When my love had his accident, we all held onto hope that I’d be pregnant that month. We’d been trying for a baby. IVF was on our cards but it wasn’t something I ever imagined I’d be tackling on my own. Bittersweet like none other, I’ve never been more certain or excited about anything in my entire life.”

In a subsequent post, she wrote: “When you do a pregnancy shoot with your dog instead of your person. All of the feels.”

Alex ‘Chumpy’ Pullin, 32, was spearfishing in shallow water off 19th Ave at Palm Beach in July last year when it’s believed he suffered a shallow water blackout.

Pullin is believed to have been an experienced spearfisher and free diver, and was fishing alone at the time of the incident. His family was reportedly on the beach.

Alex ‘Chumpy’ Pullin, a champion snowboarder, represented Australia at several world championships in the snowboard cross event, achieving Gold in both 2011 and 2013 events. He represented Australian at an Olympic level three times. In 2014 at Sochi, he was the national team’s flagbearer.

Congratulations to Ellidy Vlu on the happy news.
