We’re feeling a whole lot better about the prospect of a Power Rangers reboot rn (What? There’s so much potential for ruining a sacred thing), after it was confirmed Elizabeth Banks has signed on to play Rita Repulsa, the evil alien witch.
The first baddie of the OG Rangers TV show, RR is best remembered by her elaborate headpiece, glass-shattering voice that soils the pants of the mighty morphin’ teens and ability to breathe fi-yahhhh.
Banks confirmed the news via Twitter, jumping straight into character.

Now she’s on board, and the Rangers themselves have been cast, filming should kick off quickly enough.
No word on the plot just yet, but remember when Lord Zedd appeared to try to kill the Rangers, making Rita Repulsa jealous and forcing her to use a love potion on him so they could join evil forces / take them down together?
Yeah, let it not be that.
