Haunting New Video Shows How Close ‘Mindhunter’ Got To The Real Ed Kemper

Mindhunter, the new, cerebral crime drama streaming on Netflix, is technically a work of fiction.

Sure, the show’s entertainingly named protagonist Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and his FBI counterparts are based on the real-world boffins who pioneered behavioural science in the late 70s, but their stories have been enhanced for a crime-hungry audience.

The killers involved in the show? Well, they’re real. Their dialogue is ripped straight from real-world transcripts. And apparent murder buff Thomas Flight has created a video comparing Cameron Britton’s portrayal of so-called ‘Co-Ed Killer’ Edmund Kemper with actual footage of a 1984 Kemper interview.

We feel a lil’ odd slapping a spoiler warning on this one as Kemper’s crimes are a grisly matter of public record, but heads up regardless. Actually, ‘heads up’ may be the wrong phrase to use on this one.
