Eamon Sullivan Named 2011 Cleo Bachelor Of The Year

Mention buff topless men, the Ivy and a James Bond themed soirée and you’ll have Sydney socialites running like moths to a flame. That’s exactly what happened last night, when the Ivy wined and dined 300 local A-listers such as Sophie Monk, Ruby Rose and Rachel Gilbert to celebrate the crowning of 25 year-old Olympic swimmer Eamon Sullivan as Cleo’s 2011 Bachelor Of The Year.

The amateur chef and athlete definitely stole the hearts of Cleo readers, attracting 1.6 million votes to beat out Home and Away actor Dan Ewing and Triple J presenter and self-described nerd, Paul Verhoeven.

In addition to having the invaluable and totally usable title of hottest guy in Australia, Sullivan won a Nissan Micra presented to him by Cleo editor Gemma Crisp.

Still a single man after his split with fellow swimming superstar Stephanie Rice, Sullivan hopes the win will allow him to follow in the footsteps of previous winners and hook up with a supermodel. “I hope I can follow in their [previous winners] footsteps and do the title proud – especially if it involves dating a supermodel,” he said during last night’s festivities.

Editor of Cleo, Gemma Crisp completely supported the voters’ decision, saying “Eamon is the perfect Cleo bachelor – he’s charismatic, he’s ambitious, he’s intelligent, he’s amazing in the kitchen (as we all saw on Celebrity Masterchef) and he’s also the proud dad of his adorable French bulldog, Baxter. What girl doesn’t melt at the sight of a hot guy with a cute dog?”

Take note men.
