When Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson isn’t on the set of some blockbuster movie, he’s busy being a lovely human being. His latest wholesome act? Gifting his father, Rocky Johnson, a new home.
The sweet news comes just a few months after Johnson surprised his mother with a brand new home for Christmas – any house, anywhere.
“Just got off the phone with my dad and man, it was a great call and I just had to share this with you guys really quickly,” The Rock began in an Instagram video.
“About two-three weeks ago I called my dad and I said look, you’re probably happy where you’re at but I want to do something for you. I want to buy you a brand new home wherever you want to live, you can live. And he couldn’t believe it, he was just speechless. So he just called me now, it’s a big weekend. He’s going to go look at properties and he’s a Florida boy so he’s going to go up to North Florida and look and he goes ‘I’m so excited but I’m also so nervous’.
“My dad’s an old school tough guy, I said, ‘What the hell are you so nervous about?’ and he said, ‘Well, no one -‘ and he was searching for words – ‘no one ever called to tell me they were going to buy me a house before and the fact that it’s you, it’s my son, I’m so proud of you and I love you so much’ and I’ve never heard my dad talk like that and I – it felt good to me and it felt good to my heart.”
Gosh, that’s sweet.
In his video caption, Johnson shared how his father had experienced homelessness at a young age after his mother “kicked him out of his house on Christmas day.”
Wholesome as hell.

The Rock will reprise his role as Luke Hobbs opposite Jason Statham as Deckard Shaw. Franchise newcomer Idris Elba will star as the film’s baddie Brixton and Vanessa Kirby will play Shaw’s sister and MI-5 agent Hattie.
