Don’t Panic, But Apparently Jaden Smith Is Playing A DC Superhero

Jaden Smith, entertaining interview-giver, inspiring Tweeter, occasional actor and gift that damn well keeps on giving, may soon be entering the crowded field of superhero films, playing the DC Comics character Static Shock.
This announcement does not come from Smith himself, but from Walking Dead actor Tyler James Williams, was speaking on the subject of young, black superheroes during a recent interview.
Per reports in ComicBook.Com, he said that “there aren’t a lot”, but when reminded of Static Shock and Spider-Man, he paused and then said “yeah no, it’s great to see that Static Shock is happening with Jaden.”
The relevant part of the interview can be heard just over a minute in:
Williams appeared alongside Smith in After Earth, but it’s not clear how he came by this seemingly pretty big piece of information. Smith has not commented, because he’s too busy retweeting things like this:

Static Shock, created by DC in 1993, is an “average, inner-city teen” named Virgil Hawkins, who gains electromagnetic powers after exposure to a mysterious gas.
The extent of Jaden Smith’s mysterious powers remains unknown.
Jaden’s dad Will Smith is starring as Deadshot in next year’s Suicide Squad, alongside Ben Affleck, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Cara Delevingne and Jai Courtney.
