The trailer, captured by a fan at the event over the weekend, shows Glover and co-star Rihanna ruminate on a strained life in paradise, before what certainly appears to be an abduction.

Directed by Glover’s longtime Atlanta and This Is America collaborator Hiro Murai, the footage already suggests Guava Island will build on their recent work – tonally rich, just a touch surreal, and absolutely chock full of music.

Black Panther standout Letitia Wright and Nonso Anozie will also star.

The film’s title, which is conspicuously absent in the clip, was first reported by Cuban publication Vistar in August.

Other key details about the project, including its release date, remain a bit nebulous. Fortunately, Childish Gambino fans have some other upcoming big-screen projects to keep the hype strong…
