The Bloody Daleks Are Back In Latest Teaser For ‘Doctor Who’ NYD Special

Doctor Who

It’s barely ten seconds long but the latest teaser for the Doctor Who New Year’s Day special has fans hyped. In fact, you don’t even see the object of everyone’s excitement, you hear it – a simple “EX…TER…MI…NATE”… right at the end of the trailer.

The Daleks, the glorious old enemies of Doctor Who, have returned.

“This is the DNA of the most dangerous creature in the universe,” Jodie Whittaker‘s Doctor says to her companions in the teaser, otherwise known as Mandip Gill, Tosin Cole, and Bradley Walsh.

The little trailer is honestly eight seconds long, maybe nine.

Earlier this month, the wonderful Whittaker – our 13th Doctor and first-ever female Time Lord – confirmed she would be returning to the role for another blessed season.

“I really can’t wait to step back in and get to work again,” she told The Hollywood Reporter.“It’s such an incredible role. It’s been an extraordinary journey so far and I’m not quite ready to hand it over yet.”

Whittaker’s debut episode of season 11, The Woman Who Fell To Earth, is now the franchise’s highest season premiere ever.

British TV ratings organisation, Broadcasters Audience Research Board (BARB), reported that the episode scored an impressive 10.9 million viewers across all devices – including PCs, phones, and tablets – in the UK.

The previous record had been set by Christopher Eccleston‘s Doctor back in 2005, following the series’ brief hiatus.

As for Doctor Who season 12, well unfortunately we won’t be seeing it until 2020 but the team are already working on it.

Excellent showrunner Chris Chibnall said he’s absolutely keen on bringing “more scares, more monsters and more Bradley Walsh, Mandip Gill and Tosin Cole” to the lil’ screen.
