Depp’s Daughter Posts Instagram Defending Him Amid Allegations Of Abuse

Lily-Rose Depp, the 17-year-old daughter of Johnny Depp, has shared a supportive Instagram for her father amidst allegations that he was violent towards Amber Heard during their marriage.

The image depicts Depp with Lily-Rose as a child, with accompanying text saying that he had been “nothing but a wonderful father”.

She also posted another Instagram later, featuring a screenshot from a People article suggesting that the Los Angeles Police Department did not find any evidence to support Heard’s claims:
As you might imagine, both posts are filled with heated comments both supportive and critical of Depp.
Depp and Heard are currently undergoing a divorce after images surfaced of Heard with a bruised eye and the news that she was pursuing a restraining order against Depp. Heard says that her face was injured after Depp threw an iPhone at her in a rage, and that the incident was part of a pattern of physical and emotional abuse throughout the relationship.
Heard also alleges that a month prior to the aforementioned incident, Depp grabbed her and shoved her roughly to the ground during an argument.
Depp’s lawyer Laura Wasser claimed in court papers that Heard had fabricated abuse claims to achieve a favourable financial settlement. “Amber is attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse,” the papers read.
Vanessa Paradis, Depp’s former wife, wrote a letter obtained by TMZ in which she also defends Depp.  “In all the years I have known Johnny, he has never been physically abusive with me and this looks nothing like the man I lived with for 14 wonderful years.”

Obviously there’s been a lot flying around here – and unfortunately sections of the entertainment press have augmented defences from those close to Depp with bizarrely spurious stuff about Heard, such as suggesting a photo of her smiling with friends refuted the abuse claims, or that her bisexuality was somehow relevant to the divorce.

Raquel Rose Pennington
, a longtime friend of Heard, claimed in her own court document submission that she once arrived at the couple’s home to find Depp threatening Heard with a wine bottle while Heard cowered beside the couch, after which Pennington escorted Heard away.
Depp himself has made no comments since the allegations came to light. All that remains is his statement through his publicist after the divorce proceedings became public, in which he condemned “salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life.”
