‘Deadpool 2’ Director Quits Over Creative Differences With Ryan Reynolds

Tim Miller, who directed this year’s wildly successful Deadpool, has dropped out of the sequel, and reports indicate that ‘creative differences’ with star Ryan Reynolds are behind his exit.
Miller, who comes from a visual effects background, was a driving force behind bringing Deadpool to the big screen, and it is believed he himself leaked early test footage to build hype and encourage Fox to give the film the green light.
The film made $786 million worldwide, gave Ryan Reynolds the biggest role of his career, and kickstarted a whole new franchise, and Miller had reportedly planed to return behind the camera, until this latest development.
Fox say that the split was “amicable”, although an anonymous source who spoke to The Hollywood Reporter said that Reynolds’ clout has “increased exponentially”, and that he and Miller had “increasingly butted heads” over the sequel.
Per a report in The Wrap, the differences came down to the fact that Miller wanted the second film to be more “stylised” whereas Reynolds wanted to keep the “raunchy, fourth wall-breaking” tone of the first intact.
The conflict allegedly came to a head over Miller’s decision to case Kyle Chandler in the role of Cable – Reynolds, whose new contract includes casting approval, didn’t think he was right for the part, and the studio ultimately took the star’s side.
Deadpool 2 is due for release in 2018, and is currently in the casting stage, with six actresses being tested for the role of Domino, who will be the new female lead in the series.
Ryan Reynolds definitely remains all in:
