Always have, always will be an unconditional fan of the undisputed King, David Lynch, but let it be blatantly clear – literally nobody else could be forgiven for toying with our emotions so brutally.
Back in October, David Lynch announced the long awaited return of cult classic television, Twin Peaks; in March, while on a visit to Brisbane promoting his retrospective exhibition, things started looking extremely tenuous over Lynch’s involvement; by April, Lynch was officially out of the project, largely due to a contract dispute with US network Showtime.
But today, despair no longer, as David Lynch has officially walked back on board the exceedingly perilous ship that is Twin Peaks, announced in a statement and tweet this morning.
Showtime president Daivd Nevins said today:
“This damn fine cup of coffee from Mark and David tastes more delicious than ever. Totally worth the extra brewing time and the cup is even bigger than we expected … Pre-production starts now!!”
Nevins also sweetened the deal, confirming that Lynch will now be directing the entire rebooted series, rather than only nine episodes, as first announced.
Lynch wrote on Twitter:
Dear Twitter Friends, the rumors are not what they seem ….. It is !!!
Happening again. #TwinPeaks returns on @SHO_Network

The ‘Twin Peaks’ reboot is likely to drop in 2016.
