Darwin Is One Lonely Planet’s Top 10 Cities to Visit In the World

Darwin is officially trendy, you guys.

The Northern Territory capital has snuck into the coveted Top 10 Cities to Visit in 2012 list for Lonely Planet, beating out both Sydney and Melbourne, which have never made the list for being ‘too boring.’

With a pumping nocturnal scene, magical markets and restaurants, and world-class wilderness areas just down the road, today Darwin is the triumph of Australia’s Top End,” the entry says. “It’s now a hip city to visit rather than just the end of the road for lost souls.” It’s also a place with a helluva lot of crocodiles, national parks and the closest proximity to cheap Balinese furniture. All in all, we can’t think of anything better.

Well done, Northerners!
